Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). When she was three years older, her family members moved to America. Summer was a student at British as well as American schools while her family lived overseas, returning to her home town of Pasadena just before her birthday of 14. In love with the idea of becoming an actress since when she was just five years old, Summer took her first acting class at the age 14. Nine months later she made an agreement with an agent as well as a manager and began to pursue her dream full-time. She is currently pursuing her degree at the college level in her free time. Was one of the young stars included in Vanity fair's cover article, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was named one of "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. At age 14 Bishil began her acting lessons. Within a year, she was hired by an agency and manager. Bishil was initially seen on the Nickelodeon TV series Just for Kicks. She has since appeared in various other children's shows. In 2007, she played the lead in Alan Ball’s film Towelhead that was an adaptation of his novel. Slate critic Dana Stevens said, "Her performance is the best in a film which, despite its best intentions, seems completely fake and slightly embarrassing, as an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching." Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is one of the best natural film actresses ever. In the September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil, a "...newcomer, gives an intense and thrilling performance as Jasira. In 2009, she directed Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her performance. She was chosen to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s 2010 film The Last Airbender. This was to be the main storyline of the planned but never produced sequel.
